Can I run things that require a higher model card with my higher VRAM?

I want to play Deus Ex: Human Revolution or Dead Island. My laptop has an NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600, and those games have 8000 series cards listed in the minimum requirements. However, they have the minimum VRAM listed as 512MB, and my computer has 1.4GB of VRAM. Can this compensate?Can I run things that require a higher model card with my higher VRAM?
may be yes but you wont be able to use some graphic options and features of that game.,the game goes slower..
