How do you run Deus-Ex smoothly using the built-in software renderer?

I recently downloaded Deus Ex 1 off steam and I have attempted to run it using the software renderer that is 'built-in' with the game. However, it makes the game run really slowly. Is their any easy way I can make it run faster with the software renderer as I love the way it looks with it activated.

If you do have a solution, would you be so kind as to leave instructions on performing it in your answer?

Thanks. How do you run Deus-Ex smoothly using the built-in software renderer?
Software rendering is going to be slow because it doesn't use any graphical hardware to render. You should probably just turn off software rendering. How do you run Deus-Ex smoothly using the built-in software renderer?
With hardware rendering you're using your video card and taking work off the processor...so unless you have problems or something run it with hardware rendering. You might be able to run it smoothly with software rendering at a lower resolution with lower detail since the game is pretty old anyway. How do you run Deus-Ex smoothly using the built-in software renderer?
You have to set the detail and resolution settings lower if your processor isn't fast enough. It does look better when hardware rendered though.
